Thanks for the private email. Looking at your site there doesn't appear to be a good reason why there is a problem. Using IE6,7,8, Safari, Chrome, FF in XP and Safari, Chrome, FF Mac the site renders absolutely fine. However, you report that windows 7 with IE8 throws an error. I can't explain that as I can't test it. I don't yet have access to a windows 7 install.

I'm having the exact same issue on all browsers. All Items Expanded and Don't Respond to Clicking. Was there ever any solution to this issue?

I'm having this problem in IE and I know why I am having the problem but I don't know how to fix it.

I'm using the Superfish menu extension which seems to be breaking these slider mods.

I tried FaQsliders and another plug-in like it to see which one I wanted to use on my site.

The other plug-in doesn't work properly at all with Superfish and it is a known bug on their site. FaQslider is working with my Superfish mod on Chrome/Firefox but breaks on Internet Explorer. If I unpublish Superfish then FaQslider works fine.

The solution on another site to fix this was to comment out the call to the JQUERY in the file or add something like .backup to the end of the .js extension JQUERY uses.

I don't know where in these files I should even look to do that and perhaps you can point me in the right direction which pay help resolve the issues some others are having as well.

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for the posts. I can't help without links as I can't look for any conflicts to help you find a solution.

However, these are all JavaScript conflicts. It's difficult to change FAQ Slider because it uses the built in Joomla Mootools JavaScript framework. That means that it's something else that causing the problem. This is certainly true in all cases I've been able to verify so far...

For example Superfish is a lovely menu but it uses jQuery, another JavaScript framework, and mootools/jQuery conflicts are common. Joomla 1.6 should be over this with upgraded Mootools. jQuery does also have a compatibility mode - see jQuery docs. This is what Dan Rataj over at Core Design is talking about. I used to use his things but found I was having lots of conflicts and didn't need the extra overhead. That was before I was developing myself...

Other than that I can only say that generally IE is a pain both for having and being difficult to sort out conflicts.
