Re:Multiple levels of sliders? 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Thanks Matt,

I have changed it to this:

{faqslider art|sliders}Frequently Asked Questions{/faqslider}

But it's still giving me the same message....

I tried a couple of other categories too and tried clearing the cache.

I've checked the code and actually your first version should have worked fine too - I'd forgotten that I'd already set up defaults.

The various issues that could cause this error are:

  1. user viewing does not have access privileges to category or any of the articles in the category

  2. category is not published or no articles published
  3. category name does not match a real category
  4. category is not a com_content category (normal content category)

If it's none of these things then I would really like to have a look at your installation via the backend please.

Hi Matt,

OK I have checked these points - and think I'm right in saying it's none of these.

1. The Frequently Asked Questions are all Public.
2. The Category is published and the articles are visible in the front end
3. The name matches and I have tried others
4. The categories are listed in the normal joomla categories section in the back end so I believe are com_content.

This is where I put the test:

poultrykeeper.com/chickens/frequently-as...faq-slider-test.html

If you want to have a look at the back end, that's no problem - drop me an email with the access level you require and I will create a user for you.

Thanks,

Tim

One last thought - is the cache enabled? Have you cleared it?

Ok, it's all sorted. After lots of messing about I realised that you had tried an earlier version that had saved a duff parameter. You then hadn't actually re-saved the plugin parameters with the new version so the database query was screwed!

It was a useful exercise in building in some more robust error reporting/debugging but quite frustrating.

Enjoy using the plugin though!

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your efforts.

I don't quite follow what was wrong.. Do you mean I hadn't installed the latest version of the plugin?

Much Appreciated, I will put the plugin to good use
