Forgive me asking this, I do not completely understand what 'nested' means and it might actually be this....

I am thinking this would be useful as a 'Veterinary Diagnosis' section on my site that can be used to find common problems / diseases (of poultry) - the idea is to be able to burrow down 2 or 3 levels of slider until you get a selection of suggestions to the possible problem and a link to the articles on the site that deal with those problems.

Would this work...? or is that nesting?

Unfortunately that is exactly what nested means. You can't have an article that is placed within a tab or slider that then produces another tab or slider at the moment.

I think you want a tree menu that displays in a similar way to that on Windows explorer (wash my mouth out with soap) Take a look at examples like mattkruse.com/javascript/mktree/ or dbtree.megalingo.com/web/demo/simple-collapsible-tree.cfm . I've not used any of them but there are loads out there. The other one to look at is Extended Menu.

Back to FAQ Slider - this is a brand new plugin - I whipped it up the other night and I haven't worked the bugs out completely yet. I'm sure there'll be a fix soon. However, it may be a limitation of the native Joomla tabs and sliders which I'm utilising to make this plugin very lightweight. It doesn't add any new javascript to your site you see...

So, in terms of search engines crawling that page with the FAQ slider installed, would they see whats inside the sliders?

The search engines see it all fine - don't worry.

I said before that nesting might:be a limitation of the native Joomla tabs and sliders which I'm utilising to make this plugin very lightweight.It isn't so there's something funny with my code. I'll hunt it down and have something that works nicely soon.

You won't be able to have multiple levels of sliders though because the Joomla action is to close any open sliders when you select another. That would mean that when you clicked on a sub-slider the top one would close! However, tabs within sliders, sliders within tabs, and tabs in tabs should be fine...

Thank you for the explanation.

I have installed the plugin and enabled it.

I have created a test article and inserted

{faqslider}Frequently Asked Questions{/faqslider}

But on the front end I get:
FAQ Sliders - there are no article categories that match
"Frequently Asked Questions"

I do have 3 different Frequently Asked Questions categories though - in 3 different sections - chickens, guinea fowl and turkeys... hope I'm making sense here! BUT I have tried inserting a category that has a unique name too and I get the same result.

Have I missed something? The plugin options are default.

The key thing you've missed out is telling the plugin what you want it to do. Your code should read:

{faqslider art|sliders}Frequently Asked Questions{/faqslider}

I'll look at making the error message more informative and possibly a default mode where you don't need to enter anything for the source|type parameters.
